大室桃生 硝子展

パート ド ヴェールという古代の技法で制作されるガラス作家・大室桃生さんの展覧会を開催いたします。
大室さんの仕事は粘土で原型を作る作業から始まり、石膏で取った鋳型に繊密な模様を削り込み、色付きの粉末硝子を入れて焼成、仕上げに研磨を施して完成します。
焼成後は型を壊してガラスを取り出す為、全ての作品が1点もの。
量産に適した技法ではありませんが、手作業で丁寧に作られる作品からは、パート ド ヴェールならではの柔らかな佇まいと味わい深さがあります。
鮮やかな草花やモダンな幾何学模様など、モチーフや図柄は多岐に渡り、いずれも大室さんの世界観を色濃く感じられます。
今展では、器・照明・小箱などを中心に展示いたします。どうぞご高覧ください。

We are pleased to announce an exhibition of glass artist Momoo Omuro, who works with an ancient technique called pâte de verre. Omuro’s work begins with the creation of a clay mold, followed by the curving of a delicate pattern into a plaster mold, the filling of colored powdered glass, and the firing and polishing of the finished piece. After firing, the mold is broken and the glass is removed, so every piece is one of a kind. Although this is not a technique suitable for mass production, the soft appearance and depth of texture that can only be found in pâte de verre pieces, which are carefully made by hand. The motifs and patterns are diverse, ranging from vivid flowers and grasses to modern geometric patterns, all of which strongly reflect Omuro’s world view. In this exhibition, Omuro’s works will be exhibited mainly in the form of lighting and vessels.

　　　　 武蔵野美術大学工芸工業デザイン学部金工科を卒業
　　　　 伝統工芸金工作家工房勤務
　　　　 その後、ガラス（パートドヴェール）に素材をかえて、主に個展にて作品を発表。
