川合優 木工展

岐阜県美濃市の木工作家・川合優さんの展覧会を開催いたします。
木工が盛んな飛騨や京都で修行を積み、2007年に独立された川合さん。
修行時代に培った多様な木工技法と、素材を引き立てる繊細で丁寧な技術力をもとに、端正で品のある器や家具などを幅広く制作されています。
また、自身がディレクターを務めるライフスタイルブランド「SOMA」では、戦後の森林問題に向き合い、国産針葉樹を活用したものづくりに励んでいます。
森や木々を愛し、寄り添い、そして敬意を払う川合さんの作品からは、自然の美しさや木の魅力を感じられます。
本展では、お盆やトレイなど日常使いのものから、希少な銘木を用いた作品、家具やアートピースなどの新作も出展いただきます。

We are pleased to announce an exhibition of Masaru Kawai, a woodworker from Mino, Gifu.
He trained in Hida and Kyoto, where woodworking is popular, before setting up his own studio in 2007.
Based on the various woodworking techniques he developed during his apprenticeship, he creates a wide range of elegant and refined tableware and furniture with delicate and careful techniques that complement the materials.
SOMA, a lifestyle brand for which he serves as a director, works hard to address postwar forest issues and to create products that utilize domestic coniferous trees.
His works, which show love, cohabitation, and respect for forests and trees, reveal the beauty of nature and the charm of wood.
In this exhibition, his works range from trays for daily use to pieces made of rare and precious woods, and new works of furniture and art pieces will be exhibited. We hope you will enjoy the exhibition.
