望月 通陽展 原中や

本展では、型染、彫刻、版画、ペン画など多彩な技法で独自の世界を表現する望月通陽の作品展「原中や」を開催いたします。望月通陽の代表的な仕事のひとつに、光文社古典新訳文庫の表紙画制作があります。望月氏は、カント、ドストエフスキー、カフカ、清少納言といった東西の古典文学を丹念に読み込み作品の中から表紙にふさわしい一場面を選び出し、絵画として表現してきました。特にドストエフスキーの長編作品などでは5巻にも及ぶ場合があり、その制作には膨大な時間と気力、そして場面選びの鋭い感性が求められます。これまでに望月氏は400冊以上の表紙画を手がけ、その過酷な創作に現在も挑み続けています。今回望月氏が新たに取り組むテーマは、俳聖・松尾芭蕉の俳句です。芭蕉の1,000句以上にも及ぶ作品の中から、心象風景を掬い上げ、俳句の中に込められた感情や情景を、絵画として新たに表現しています。この選定には、長年培ってきた文学への深い理解と独自の感性が不可欠であったことは想像に難くありません。まるで自然の中で感動を見出したアーティストが、その瞬間をキャンバスに写し取るかのように、芭蕉の句を読み解き、その心象を新たな挑戦として表現しました。ぜひ、文学と美術が織りなす望月通陽の新たな表現をご堪能いただければ幸いです。

We are pleased to present Haranakaya, an exhibition of works by Michiaki Mochizuki, who explores his distinctive world through techniques such as stencil dyeing, sculpture, printmaking, and pen drawings. One of his most celebrated achievements is his work for the Kobunsha Classics New Translation Library, for which he has created over 400 cover illustrations. Mochizuki carefully reads each literary work—from Kant and Dostoevsky to Kafka and Sei Shōnagon—and selects scenes that he feels best embody the essence of the text. This meticulous process requires not only time and energy, but also a sharp, intuitive eye. Especially in long novels such as those by Dostoevsky, choosing a single moment to depict is a deeply creative challenge. In this new series, he turns to the haiku of Matsuo Bashō, choosing select verses from over 1,000 poems and transforming their emotional and visual imagery into paintings. With deep literary insight and poetic sensibility, Mochizuki captures the inner landscapes of Bashō’s world, as if painting moments of fleeting beauty discovered in nature.

染色、陶芸、ガラス絵、紙版画、リトグラフ、木彫、ブロンズなど、多様な手法を用いて独自の作品世界を築いている。
「宮本輝全集（全14巻）」など装幀も多く手がけ、’95年講談社出版文化賞ブックデザイン賞受賞。
画文集「道に降りた散歩家」で’01年ボローニア国際児童図書展賞次席受賞。
作品集に『円周の羊』など。
2007、2010、2014、2017、2021　ギャラリーやまほんにて個展開催。
