霜月November

It is safe to say that chrysanthemum can be representative of the autumn season.
There are many flower arrangement approaches for chrysanthemum: using a single kind; blending multiple kinds; or including within a mixture of other autumn plants. Yet, to me, the painting of Kiku Jido* is the reference to follow.
This is because the figure of Kiku Jido in the painting holds a perfect resemblance to a little group of wild chrysanthemum, living by the side of a red post box standing by my house. Soon, when it gets chillier, little pale lavender coloured flowers will start to come out, one by one.
Unfortunately, it is still a little too early to arrange those wild flowers, so I asked a florist to prepare chrysanthemum. Despite a long period of self-consideration while holding the chrysanthemum in my hand, here we are, as expected.

*Mythological figure in an ancient Chinese narrative. Also known as Ju Citong. The painting was made by Shunsō Hishida (1874-1911).
