Kikkoden Asobi (play)

In the story of the galaxy, Orihime (Vega) and Hikoboshi (Altair), who are forced to live apart at either end of the Milky Way, are allowed to meet once in a year in the evening of 7th July as long as they keep an agreement that they will work hard.
Kikkoden, originating in China, is a festival to celebrate the approval of their promise to meet, where people pray for attaining better craft techniques.
The Tanabata star festival emerged through the combination of Kikkoden and Japanese ancient purifying rituals.

In the Heian period, on the occasion of the Tanabata of Kikkoden, people offered not only poems but also Kangen (Japanese court music) and dance.
Shinya Yamamura’s Biwa (Japanese lute) looks as if it performs an ancient melody of play and sophistication.
It would be wonderful to present the world beyond time and space contained within this work alongside numerous wishes.
